Effect of Dietary Protein on the Cellular Transport of alpha-Amonoisobutyric Acid-C^(-14) in Rats

Abstract
Observations were made on the distribution in tissues and urinary excretion of alpha-aminoisobutyric acid-C¢¥~ (AIB-C¢¥t) in rats on low and high protein diets, and on the disappearance rates of AIB-C11 activity in perfusate in perfused liver.
The results are as follows;
1. The dietary protein gave great influence on the distribution pattern of injected AIB-C^14 in tissues of various organs and on its urinary excretion in rats. AIB-Cl¢¥ concentration was observed more increased in the rats on lower protein diet. In the brain, however, dietaryprotein content did not affect the distribution of AIB siginl¢¥icantly. Urinary excration of AIB was found increased in high protein diet rats.
2. The isolated livers of rats on both low and high protein diet were perfused under the same condition to study the cellular transport of AIB-C14. The disappearance .rate of AIB-C19 in perfusate ,~.nd AIB accumulation in perfused livers showed no significant difference between the low and high protein diet rats.
3. The concentration of amino acid nitrogen in the same tissue of both lo~v and high protein diet rats showed no significant difference.
